VLSI lecture The following are some of the sites I visited when putting together the VLSI lecture. I encourage you to take a look at them on your own ... you just might learn something. :-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PN_junction http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_effect_transistor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOSFET http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_circuit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threshold_voltage http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subthreshold_leakage http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CMOS http://tams-www.informatik.uni-hamburg.de/applets/cmos/ This is a site that has a fairly interesting interactive tool on it to show how p-type and n-type gates work. Also shows how the various logic gates (NAND, NOR, etc.) work when built out of CMOS. http://www.slideshare.net/dilawarsingh/on-cmos-fabrication Slide show thing about cmos fabrication. Has interesting information regarding growing the silicon tubes, and some other interesting information as well ... however, it also has quite a bit of random blather. http://www-g.eng.cam.ac.uk/mmg/teaching/linearcircuits/mosfet.html This is the interactive site that lets you see exactly what is going on in a MOS circuit. You get to change both the gate voltage and the drain to source voltage, and watch what happens. A very useful tool for learning and understanding.
